On September 14, 2024, the 10th China (Wuhan) International New Energy & Intelligent Connected Vehicle Development and Cooperation Summit (hereinafter referred to as the "Summit") commenced at the Wuhan International Conference Center.
The Summit was hosted by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Automotive Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), jointly organized by the Hubei Provincial Machinery Industry Federation, CCPIT Wuhan Sub-Council, and Hubei Automotive Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, co-organized by Hubei Electromechanical Research Institute Group Co., Ltd., Wuhan World Trade Exhibition Services Co., Ltd., and Hubei Electric Vehicle Circulation Association, in collaboration with Xibao (Wuhan) Media Co., Ltd., Wuhan Huiyu Technology Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Automobile Circulation Industry Association. The event received strong support from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China Society of Automotive Engineers (China-SAE), China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC), China Automotive Industry Expert Advisory Committee, China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center, China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance, Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Hubei Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, Hubei Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Wuhan University of Technology, and Wuhan International Auto Show Organizing Committee. It served as a key supporting event of the 24th Wuhan Motor Show.
Under the theme "Smart Mobility, Low-Carbon, Quality, Integration" and guided by the principle of "Rooted in Central China, Radiating Nationwide, and Embracing the World", the Summit aimed to advance the high-quality development of the automotive industry. Distinguished attendees included Wang Yuancheng, Vice Mayor of Wuhan Municipal People’s Government; Wang Chengxian, Second-Level Inspector of Hubei Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology; Li Qi, Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation; and Chai Zhanxiang, Assistant President of CCPIT Automotive Sub-Council. Also present were leaders from Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Commerce, CCPIT Wuhan, CCPIT Sanya, Jingmen Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Hubei Provincial Machinery Industry Federation, Wuhan Culture and Tourism Group Co., Ltd., Wuhan Guobo Company, Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai Ltd., and other organizations. Representatives from Dongfeng Motor Corporation, over 100 member units of the Hubei Automotive Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, and experts from government, industry, academia, research, application, and finance sectors gathered to share insights.
The Summit featured in-depth discussions on new energy and intelligent vehicle industries, addressing critical topics such as the automotive sector’s challenges under "de-globalization," policy updates, innovative business models, technological advancements, and strategies for global market expansion. Over 300 participants from government bodies, automotive OEMs, component suppliers, energy enterprises, investors, and transportation sectors nationwide attended, fostering a robust platform for global industry collaboration and yielding significant social impact.
Building on the success of its nine previous editions, the 10th Summit introduced two major highlights:
1. Innovative Content: Leaders and experts analyzed global automotive industry trends, proposing actionable solutions for international cooperation, supply chain security, bottleneck breakthroughs, and fostering new productive forces. Discussions emphasized industry transformation, latest policies for new energy and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), cutting-edge technologies, and emerging business models.
2. Tangible Outcomes: Leveraging the influence of the Wuhan International Auto Show and the "Golden September, Silver October" consumption peak (with 2023 Wuhan Auto Show generating 5.6 billion yuan in sales), the Summit launched the 2024 Hubei Wuhan Automotive Consumption Renewal Campaign. It also unveiled the "2024 Jingchu Supernova" initiative to promote excellence in energy storage, charging, and battery-swapping sectors, alongside efforts to elevate high-end automotive brands.
The morning session of September 14 featured keynote speeches aligned with the Summit’s theme: Luo Junmin, Deputy Secretary-General of CAAM, delivered "New Energy and Intelligent Vehicles in Progress". Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of CPCA, analyzed "2024 Global Automotive Market Trends". Kang Kai, Technical Director of CATARC, explored "Development Trends in the New Energy Vehicle Industry". Zou Guangcai, Deputy General Manager of the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance, presented "Development Trends and Ecosystem Acceleration of China’s Automotive Chip Industry". Fu Bin, Technical Director of Voyah Automobile Technology Co., Ltd., shared "Voyah’s Practices in Advancing High-Quality Development of New Energy Vehicles". Xie Zhitong, Consulting Director of MHP China-Management Consulting, discussed "Winning Strategies for Chinese NEV Global Expansion". Huang Fuming, Operations Director of Hubei Changjiang Chebailian Technology Co., Ltd., elaborated on "Building a Global Supply Chain Ecosystem to Accelerate Automotive ‘Going Global’". Liu Zhen, Executive Director and General Manager of Wuhan Green Dynamic Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd., presented "State Power Investment Corporation’s Hydrogen Energy Transportation and Hubei Practices".
The Summit concluded with industry leaders and experts deepening exchanges, strengthening cooperation, and collectively driving the high-quality growth of China’s new energy and intelligent connected vehicle sectors.
